The Ford Mustang which appeared in April of 1964, means many things to many people. The car is a tradition in the hearts of both young and old. In the Mustang Owners Club of Austin (MOCA), we celebrate the diversity in our many different members, their cars, and their interests. Please Contact Us with any questions you may have.

MOCA made a commitment three years ago to develop a closer relationship with the community by supporting SafePlace School-based Services. You can help reach our fundraising goal by making AN ONLINE DONATION on behalf of MOCA by checking the box in the donation form that says "I would like to make this donation in honor or memory of someone else" and fill in the appropriate information to ensure MOCA gets credit for your contribution.

Car of the Month

I would like to thank MOCA for selecting our 2007 Shelby GT as car of the
month.

This story actually starts out some 20 years ago. A club member named Mike
Jennings made a comment to me that is still true today. "If something is
meant to be it will be there when you want it." That held true on the 1967
GT I was trying to buy at the time. Current day: I found the 2007 Shelby
GT sitting in the LLano Ford show room in July of 2007 along with a black
2007 Shelby GT, but due to timing I had to pass it up. At that point I put
the word out to everybody who would give the car a good home. For months I
watched the car sit in the show room. Still nobody gave it a home. One
rainy day in February while I was driving home from Beaumont, TX I passed
thru a small Texas town called Sour Lake. I saw another white 2007 GT on
the Ford dealers lot with an incredible price on the windshield. I stopped
to take a closer look, started it, but one thing held me back, it had a 5
speed and I wanted an automatic car. I got home Friday night and told
Marie about the car. Marie got up early Saturday morning and called Llano
Ford to see if they would match the price on the Sour Lake car. They got
real close and we were on our way to Llano. Within the hour we were making
the deal on the Shelby.

We drove it from the dealer straight to south Austin to meet up with MOCA
for a Saturday Sonic cruise, and then to the Salt Lick, putting over 300
miles on the car the first day.

The Shelby GT is built much like the early Shelbys. Carroll gets a Mustang
GT and changes the suspension, exhaust and does some minor motor mods. He
also gives the car a CSM serial number to prove it is a real Shelby. In
2007 only 7000 Shelby GT’s were built. They were only black and white with
the silver stripes. Our car is one of only 700 built with an automatic
transmission. The 3-valve 4.6 puts out 325hp. Shelby put 3:55 gears in to
wake the car up off the line, lowered it for its cool stance. To have this
car fulfils my lifelong dream to own a Shelby Mustang. I have no plans on
doing any changes to the car at this time; Ford and Carroll have made it
more then enough fun for me.

The Shelby sits proudly in our garage by my 1986 GT 5.0 convertible and
Marie’s 2004 Screaming Yellow Mach I, which also happens to be one of 700
cars built like ours. I have owned several Mustangs while I have been a
MOCA member, from a 1968 6 cylinder to a 1967 and a 1968 GT Fastback, along
with a 1986 GT Hatchback - all of which I have enjoyed driving.

This past June Marie and I attended the Mid-American Shelby meet for the
20th+ year, but for the first time with a Shelby. I ran the car at the
Hallett 1.7 mile road course and Tulsa International drag strip having a
blast the whole time. On that Sunday morning while cleaning the car for
the Car show, I was visited by Carroll himself for a brief visit. Out of 43
in our class we received a runner up award.

We look forward to driving the Shelby to many other events in the future.
Carroll built the car for that reason.

Thanks, Kelly & Marie Misfeldt
